چکیده
We study Λ QCD /m B corrections to factorization in B → Kπ decays. First, we analyze these decay channels within factorization, showing that, irrespectively of the value of γ, it is not possible to reproduce the experimental data. Then, we discuss Λ QCD /m B corrections to these processes, and argue that there is a class of doubly Cabibbo enhanced non-factorizable contributions, usually called charming penguins, that cannot be neglected. Including these corrections, we obtain an excellent agreement with experimental data. Furthermore, contrary to what is obtained with factorization, we predict sizable rate asymmetries in B ± → K ± π 0 and B → K ± π ∓ .

Reexamining charmless B → PV decays in QCD factorization approach
Using the QCD factorization approach, we reexamine the two-body hadronic charmless B-meson decays to final states involving a pseudoscalar (P ) and a vector (V ) meson, with inclusion of the important penguin contractions of the spectator-scattering amplitudes induced by the b → Dg∗g∗ (with D = d or s, and g∗ denoting an off-shell gluon) transition, which are of order αs. Their impacts on the C...
متن کاملHadronic B Decays: A General Approach
In this paper, we propose a general approach for describing hadronic B decays. Using this method, all amplitudes for such decays can be expressed in terms of contractions, though the matrix elements are not evaluated. Many years ago, Buras and Silvestrini proposed a similar approach. However, our technique goes beyond theirs in several ways. First, we include recent theoretical and experimental...
متن کاملThe ∆i = 1/2 Rule and Ε ′ /ε in the Chiral Quark Model
I discuss the role of the ∆I = 1/2 selection rule in K → ππ decays for the theoretical calculations of ε/ε . Lacking reliable “first principle” calculations, phenomenological approaches may help in understanding correlations among different contributions and available experimental data. In particular, in the chiral quark model approach the same dynamics which underlies the ∆I = 1/2 selection ru...
متن کاملFactoring a Quadratic Operator as a Product of Two Positive Contractions
Let T be a quadratic operator on a complex Hilbert space H. We show that T can be written as a product of two positive contractions if and only if T is of the form aI ⊕ bI ⊕ ( aI P 0 bI ) on H1 ⊕H2 ⊕ (H3 ⊕H3) for some a, b ∈ [0, 1] and strictly positive operator P with ‖P‖ ≤ | √ a− √ b| √ (1− a)(1− b). Also, we give a necessary condition for a bounded linear operator T with operator matrix ( T1...
متن کاملModel independent sum rules for B → πK decays
We provide a set of sum rules relating CP-averaged branching ratios and CP-asymmetries of the B → πK modes. They prove to be useful as a mechanism to ‘test’ experimental data given our expectations of the size of isospin breaking. A set of observables emerges providing a simpler interpretation of data in terms of isospin breaking. Moreover, the derivation is done in a completely model independe...
